Cold Side of Home - Morris
Cold Side of Home
Tori Morris
Art as Work is pleased to present Cold Side of Home, an installation conceived by the Maryland artist Tori Morris
In this exhibit, I hope to capture the contrast between warmth and cold set within the stillness of the winter woods. The barren tress, dead leaves, and broken branches are representative of the hardships faced in winter. The empty swing, with broken twigs and tress surrounding it is representative of the cold season contrasting with the warm spring dress. The dark and eerie lighting is mean to contrast with the welcoming and warm art, trying to bring life back to nature. Winter can often bring a sense of lost time; yet in the heart of the cold, there is a warmth that lingers as a reminder for belonging even in the coldest of times. In this work, I invite the viewer to step into this space, to feel the weight of the cold and the promise of the warmth to come. Tori currently lives and works in Severn, Maryland.
