Art as Work is pleased to present "Going Home," an installation conceived by Maryland artist Sarah Watson.
Sarah's artwork is a testament to standing out and is a testament to eclectic fashion and lifestyle. Her work is made to show her own personal experience through growth and finding comfort in difference. Sarah acknowledges the challenges that she has faced through large-scale charcoal drawings. The large size of her work shows the large impact that she hopes they will have on the viewer. In this show, "Going Home," the emphasis is on Sarah's experience as a commuter college student and working in a different state. The idea of "home" in these pieces is subjective as there is no clear sign as to what is determined as her home. Is it her car? Is it in Pennsylvania or Maryland? The piece "Home" shows a representation of all of the emotions involved with daily life and commuting. Within her artwork, she encourages the viewer to go through their own journey of self-acceptance and expression.
Sarah Watson currently lives in York, Pennsylvania and works out of Westminster, Maryland.
