Art as Work is pleased to present Lonely Nights, a installation conceived by the Maryland artist Beatriz Mendez Perez.

"Overthinking" and "Digital Dream" are works that are intertwined. The first work "Digital Dream" has a meaning for the person you become in the digital world, the model in the middle of the abstract plain is a representation of you. The model is bare, having no defining features so that when you look at it, you can see what you would look like, if you had no restrictions like in the real world. The second work "Overthinking" has more defining features, this work represents me, the artist in some ways. The figure in this work of art only has half their face held together, this was done to emphasis the thoughts of an overthinker. They get wild, too overbearing, the artwork shot in the dark has more shapes and meaning, showing how most overthinkers don't show their distress until they are alone, in the dark. These 2 artworks are connected and are a parallel to each other, "Overthinking" shows the struggle and thoughts of not being able to express yourself fully in real life, while "Digital Dream" has a more abstract and colorful presence to show the joys of the Digital Realm.

Beatriz Mendez Perez currently lives and works in Westminster, Maryland.
