Art as work is pleased to present Serpentine Madness, an installation conceived by the Maryland artist, Abby Proctor.
Serpentine Madness is a series comprised of linoleum cut relief prints from two different editions; one titled "Serpentine Madness," which features three snakes slithering and contorting their bodies to fit into the composition, and "Rogue," a smaller print of a snake and the continuation of one of the bodies from "Serpentine Madness." As the bodies of the snakes naturally flow they are surrounded by the chaos of eccentric, organic lines, raising the question, "what exactly are they doing?" The prints are arranged on the roots of a tree, right where the trunk of the tree meets the ground and are held in place by sticks. The contrast created by the prints of snakes in an outdoor setting raises more questions, and the arrangement of sticks supports the blending of the works and their setting.
Abby currently lives and works in Westminster, Maryland.
