Show at MY Kitchen Sink

This installation is titled "Show at MY Kitchen Sink," Dimensions variable, masking tape, bubble wrap, wire, paper, colored pencil, vintage valentines/birthday cards, vintage items and kitchen related objects.

Art as Work is pleased to present "Show at MY Kitchen Sink", an installation conceived by the Maryland artist, Maya Stone.

This installation takes place at Stone's kitchen sink. The main works featured in the center of her kitchen window are two sculptural roses. One rose is made from masking tape and the other from bubble wrap. Stone also included a colored pencil replica drawing of Frida Kahlo's flower crown shown in Kahlo's 1940 self portrait Self Portrait, Dedicated to Dr. Eloesser. This drawing is placed at the top left portion of the kitchen window. The installation also includes vintage valentines, birthday cards, paper items, objects, and kitchen related items to create a narrative. All items related to this installation are placed around the kitchen sink and window. Most items are placed on the window with or without masking tape. Masking tape has also been used to create a half-heart shape in the upper right portion of the window. Stone prefers to leave interpretation up to the viewer.

Maya Stone currently lives and works in Mt. Airy, MD.
