Descending into the hidden light

Art as Work is pleased to present Descending into the Hidden Light, a group installation conceived by Maryland artists Alena, Conny, Danielle, and Tyler. In the dim recesses of an old church basement, forgotten props and discarded costumes linger in quiet anticipation. A forgotten place that brought together a group of artists who embrace the intricacies of shadow and light, by crafting a haunting yet visually interesting experience. Descending into the Hidden Light invites visitors to step down into obscurity, to pause in the glow of hidden radiance, and to question what is truly seen when light is fractured by shadow. This exhibition reveals the remnants of past performances in a theater storage setting, to show our work through stark contrasts and eerie compositions, as all the pieces are lit with careful intention, and obscured by the unknown darkness. We want to explore the tension between concealment and revelation, the quiet mystery found in forgotten places. Here, the unseen becomes visible but only for those willing to look. Each artist currently lives and works in Westminster, Maryland.
