You Make Beautiful Things Out of Us

Art as Work is pleased to present ‘You Make Beautiful Things Out of Us,’ a group installation conceived by the Maryland artists Cara Olson, Abby Proctor, Maya Stone, and Sarah Watson.

This show is focused on the beauty in still-life works. Using found, everyday objects, to make a beautiful piece of work. Showing each still-life in a blooming tree represents how the objects have blossomed into new meaning. With the changing of the seasons, so too do the meanings of each item as they are given a new life. Each work involves elements that evoke nature, while being set within nature. Likewise, the color palette of each piece reflects the vibrancy of new life and meaning, showcasing how the items have been depicted and viewed by each artist’s individual perspectives.

Cara Olson and Maya Stone both currently live and work in Mount Airy, Maryland.

Abby Proctor lives and works in Westminster, Maryland.

Sarah Watson lives in York, Pennsylvania and works in Westminster, Maryland.
